Last Band Concert of the School Year

Matt had his Spring band concert last week.

The venue is a local church, which is nice. There are lots of seats and the acoustics are a gazillion times better than the gym.

There are three bands, (mostly) 6th, 7th and 8th graders. As you can tell from the trophy picture above, they had a great year at the regional competitions.

There was a slide show between bands. It covered all the events and activities of all the bands throughout the school year. I managed to get a picture of this slide of Matt:

Photos don't do justice to the talent of this school's band program. I wish you could hear them play. Especially this kid:

Honors Band, here we come.

Just realized this concert was in a church. You could never do that in California. Yea for Texas!

Yes, we had a public school concert in a church and nobody complained. The significance was not lost on me (coming from CA) but it's quite normal here. Better than the other option which would have been the school gym with metal bleachers.

Uhhh... the bleachers are wooden at my gym
