I switched the rules for this blog so anyone can comment, but I have to approve the comments before they'll show up. I have to do this to avoid blog spam, plus control who says what on my family blog.
Usually, there isn't much time between when you comment and when you see it on the blog. I can approve comments from my phone.
If there is a delay, just be patient. I'll get to it.

Thr 5th Grade Girls Movie
Lastnight, there was a bra commercial on the tv and Matthew said, "ew."
He then talked about the "4th grade boys movie" he saw last year. I don't have many details, but I think it was a puberty/hygiene movie. The boys saw one film and the girls saw another film in a separate room.
After the movie, all the boys got a sample size deoderant. Matthew thought it was pretty cool, like it made him a man or something.
So after this commercial last night, Matthew tells me that the boys got deoderant after the 4th grade movie, and all the girls got bras which they now wear. He's sure all the girls got bras then and they were told that they HAD to wear them. He can tell because all the girls are wearing bras now.
Matthew then tells me that there is a 5th grade movie coming up. He says that in 5th grade, the boys get to see the GIRLS movie. I asked what he thought would be in the girls movie and he turned 10 shades of red. I asked if they issued bras to boys after viewing the 5th grade girls movie and Matthew ran screaming out of the room.
So if you want to embarrass Matt, ask what he thinks he'll see in the 5th grade girls movie.

Turkey Day
Since we got invited to someone else's house for Thanksgiving, I never got to cook our turkey. It's been sitting in the freezer since November.
We finally cooked it today. We had stuffing and potatoes. It was good. Now I'll get my sandwich, my leftovers, bones for soup and more. I can make turkey disappear and not waste a bit.
Matthew had a drumstick (of course). After dinner we went for a walk around the lake and then drove for ice cream.

Neat
Matthew got to watch Obama's speech in school yesterday. We talked about the day being an important one in history. His kids will read about it in books and Matthew can say he remembered it well. I asked what he thought about it and he said, "neat." You're lucky to get that much commentary from him these days.

Snow
Kevin says it's snowing up in Chicago. He's looking out his 12th floor window and the snow is blowing up.

Teeth B Gone
Matthew had 3 teeth pulled today, including that weird pink baby tooth that mysteriously hung in there for months, even though it had no roots or anything left in it.
He's fine. I gave him a little pain med with his mushy baked potato dinner. Now he's shooting things on the computer.

Letting the Good Times Roll
We went to New Orleans for our quarterly visit to the Big Easy. It was also the weekend of the Sugar Bowl. We had great seats in the Utah section, which worked out well since the Utes rolled the Crimson Tide. There are pictures, but there on Kevin's phone and he can't remember to send them to me.
Matt picked the Saturday activity. He chose the Audobon Insectarium. It's kind of like a bug museum. There was a good collection of critters, both live and dead. I recognized many from our yard.
They also had a kitchen where they cooked gourmet food with bugs in it. There were seasoned worms (you eat them like beer nuts), bug salsas and even desserts. Here are the cricket cookies and cricket fudge.

The cook spent a lot of time describing each item and inviting us to try them. Matt wasn't paying attention (surprise!) and tried a cookie. I said, "you do know that's a cricket cookie, right?" and I captured the moment he realized it:

The Insectarium had a great butterfly room, too.
We also took the trolley down to the end of the line where the cemeteries are. It was raining. The others in the picture are Kevin's Chicago friends
On the way back home, Kevin stopped for some cracklin at a little building next to a gas station. If you're ever on I-10 near Lafayette, Louisiana, pull off at exit 115 for cracklins. You won't regret it.

He said the cookie was good, and the cricket was bland.
