For the first time, Matthew is a "reading buddy" instead of having one. In his school, the 3rd, 4th and 5th graders pair up with the K's, 1's and 2's. Matthew has a kindergarten boy as a buddy. Matt goes to his class and reads to him for 20 minutes every other week.
I asked Matthew about it. He didn't say much (as usual) but I think he feels big.
He was also the first person in his class to make the RC reading goal this time, so you can ask him about it on the phone. Last quarter, he almost didn't make the goal at all, and all his friends got prizes. I think that made him motivated to do well this time. His teacher gives out good prizes.
Also, Matthew has been eating an absurd amount of food. He usually does that before and during a growth spurt so be prepared for a taller kid next time you see him. He ate a whole canteloupe in two sittings. Lastnight, he had 2 hot dogs (minus bun) and seven pieces of canteloupe. He's been asking for a banana at bedtime, and eating them for snack. Also, he wants four waffles in the morning. Sheesh. Hopefully this ends soon because were out of fruit.

Happy Gnu Year
Even though it's January, I'm a wee bit behind on posting our December pictures. Here's my favorite picture from Christmas. When did Matthew start liking turkey legs? Once upon a time, we couldn't get rid of the things. He ate two!
On December 30th, we went to Hermann Park (note to Chris, it's spelled correctly with one "r"). The Houston Zoo is in the park, as well as a public golf course. But you can't see those at night. Only the lights.

These ducks were happy to pose, didn't care when we got close and were probably mad that we didn't bring any bread. Nothing phased them.

There is a railroad track that goes around Hermann Park. Matthew took this picture of the signal.

Matthew was very happy to get back to school. And we were happy to have him there. He really likes his XBox 360. His favorite game is Viva Pinata. This will be all you talk about if you call him on the phone. Be prepared.
